Introduction to Construction

There are a variety of opportunities and working conditions in the construction field. Construction requires many skills. This program provides skills, knowledge and abilities for people interested in a career in the construction trades for entry-level employment.

Some of the valuable skills obtained in this class include:

  • Job safety and job site requirements
  • Hand and power tools
  • Hands on experience with tools
  • Importance of working as a team to get the job done
  • Construction math and blueprint reading
  • Material handling
  • Building wisdom from local professional general contractors
  • Communication skills

FINANCIAL AID

This course does not qualify for federal financial aid.

Monday-Thursday, June 11 - July 5, 2018, 7:30 am - 2:00 pm

Internship:

Monday, July 9 through Friday, July 20, 2018 (Schedule varies by internship site)

Wednesday, July 9, 16 and 23, 2018, 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm - intern meetings (includes meals)
